Do you want customers to notice your site?  This is an important question to consider.  It all depends on the site you want to make.  If you are using your site to sell a product, do you want the customer to notice the site or the product?  If you are offering a service, tell the story of what makes your service better than the competitions.  People are always wanting something, so give them what they want.

Are you thinking about getting a web site for your business?  If so, here is a few things to remember when looking for a web designer.

  • Pick a designer that has been working in the field for at least two years.
  • Ask to see at least three examples of the web designers work and find out how involved in the project they were.
  • Does each design look the same?  How well did they capture the audience that will be looking at each site?
  • Does the designer listen to what your needs are? Does the designer ask questions about what you are looking for in a site and help guide you?  Remember you are looking for a professional and you want to get a professional opinion.
  • Be cautious if a designer can not give you an accurate estimate or asks for the entire estimate up-front.
  • Always get a contract for any work being done.  It is typical to pay a 50% deposit with the other 50% due when work is completed.  Remember the contract should be specific in what the requirements of the site are, what the release schedule for each component is going to be, and when the project will be completed.
  • Ask for references of past clients and ask these questions:
  • Are you satisfied with the work that was done?
  • Was the work completed on schedule?
  • How was the communication between you and the designer?

I hope that this helps you in picking a web designer for you next project.  If you have any further questions feel free to post them here or contact me at PC Avenues.
